Ferguson, Missouri Police Shooting of Unarmed Michael Brown

Michael Brown graduated from high school in May and was planning to start trade school on Aug. 11, two days after he was shot dead while unarmed by a police officer. He was buried on Aug. 25 in St. Louis Country, Missouri. The Aug. 9 shooting led to weeks of protests and heavily armed police and citizens clash. Hundreds were arrested. After nearly three months of investigation and deliberation, a St. Louis County grand jury declined to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of 18-year-old unarmed Michael Brown. Demonstrators took to the streets across the United States from New York City to Los Angeles after the decision was announced on Aug. 24 evening.
